HISTORY:
Enki
Khnum

ENKI:
He was one of the original gods of the Sumerian empire - God of Creation, Intelligence, Crafts, Water, Seawater, Lakewater, Fertility, Semen, Magic, Mischief. Like the gods before him, Enki crafted humans out of clay and gave them life once the first two left the Garden of Eden. He was The God of Water originally and it was good. He was the patron god of Eridu, had a temple there and basically lived there. Enki dabbled in relations with Ninhursag but they never married but did have two daughters together: Ninsar and Ninti. The two of them often worked together on creating humans and got along rather well.

Things were fine and dandy until the bigger three told Enki and Baal to flood the earth and thus kill most of man. Neither wanted to but weren't given much choice. So they did as told and only Noah and his family survived - along with a large collection of animals on an Ark. Enki was disgusted by this act after it was done, especially with what Mot did with all the humans that were killed. He stayed on as The Primary Water God long enough to make sure that O.V.V. would hold up their promise to never flood the Earth again.

But first he made the jump from Sumerian pantheon to the Egyptian one, which was literally a god's stone throw away, and he looked after too because it was close to his general territory anyway. Enki wasn't too fond of the idea of having slaves but liked that they Egyptian gods were giving the big three the middle finger, essentially. Plus, a certain other god had him agreeing pretty quick.

KHNUM:
Between the switch, Enki changed his appearance up very minorly - going from white hair and green eyes to blue hair and red eyes, plus a darker skin tone. He took up the name Khnum and passed over the Primary Water God role to Neptune (also Poseidon and nicknamed Oceanus), settling in to play a less major part in the wide world. Khnum simply became the god of the Nile, fertility and bringing the flood to enrich the soil around the river. Kept his role of crafting new human baby bodies. Part of it was as a self-punishment for flooding the whole world even at the orders of the big three, and to repent by giving life instead of taking it away. He also helped Ra at night fighting Apophis/Apep who attempted to stop Ra's sun boat journey.

He met Ḥeḥ and while he flirted with the other god, didn't take it too far for quite a while. But he learned Egyptian and eventually Arabic from the other god - though hieroglyphs frustrated him to no end. Khnum did use it to tease Ḥeḥ with the flirting, especially. Might have looked at one person as a potential partner but essentially decided that Ḥeḥ was gonna be it for him, it helped that Ḥeḥ sassed him back and had the best reactions to flirting.

Eventually, at just the right time, Ḥeḥ finally gave in, and they had a very here and now moment. From then on, they were lovers and Khnum never wanted anyone else. With the rise of Mot, Ḥeḥ vanished and Khnum did some traveling of his own to see the rest of the world for a while – though always made sure to do his duty to Egypt even when travel and trading became easier for the people. He never really attempted to look for Ḥeḥ, knowing that his lover wouldn't have just upped and left unless it was absolutely dire, plus time was still going, so the worry was never overwhelmingly urgent.

Then he ended up as the Tether to Cairo about sixty years ago, no other gods were stuck there with him but plenty of humans sure were. Luckily he could help sustain the people of the city by going back to the old ways of farming the river banks, and he keeps up a barrier around the city to keep the monsters out.
